# Adelco case study: Hot off the press in nine weeks

Adelco asked for a facelift. Its customers and distributors needed much more, so Adelco got a new Drupal website in nine weeks, and traffic rose 374% on the previous month.

## The challenge: More than a facelift.

Adelco asked for a facelift. A requirements workshop showed the website had to sell machines, show the company's global reach and serve their distributors.

Adelco makes digital textile printing, screen printing and drying equipment for garment printers around the world. Its WordPress site had thin product pages, few calls to action and tangled URLs that hurt its search rankings.

Adelco also couldn't tell who controlled parts of their hosting and DNS. The brief set five goals: richer product pages, more calls to action, a visible global presence, a private area for distributors and more traffic.

## What we built: A Drupal site built from a pattern library.

### Information architecture

Pages, content types and URLs mapped before design began, so visitors and search engines can find their way around.

### A pattern library

Buttons, menus, page sections and layouts designed once in a pattern library (Pattern Lab at launch, Storybook since) and reused, so each page stays consistent.

### Editing without a developer

Adelco's editors moved from WordPress to Drupal and build pages themselves, without technical help.

### Speed, accessibility and SEO

Google Lighthouse checks during development and after launch keep the site fast, accessible and easy to find.
